The Giant Under the Snow is being adapted for film!

I’m totally jazzed about this. The Giant Under the Snow is going to be made into a film! The story, by John Gordon, is one of my all-time favorite children’s books. It’s one of those rare books that is written so well that any reasonably sensible adult can thoroughly enjoy it too. Gordon wrote it back in 1968 and, if anything, it would be classified as urban fantasy. However, when he wrote it, there was no formal urban fantasy category, long before Twilight and all these vampire/zombie/witch/whatever-whatever-whatever stories that are cluttering Amazon these days. I’m not a big of the genre, in case you didn’t pick up my drift.

Anyway, Brit screenwriter Dominic Carver has been commissioned to the adaptation. Follow him on Twitter, @DomCarver, for updates. Also, follow @jonquilwinters for updates on the film as well. There are two blog posts up at Lighthouse Poole’s Centre for the Arts in England, written by Dominic about his adaptation process.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Dominic! I’m definitely going to be following your progress and the film’s progress with great interest. (Apologies on the late response — I’ve been in the hospital all this week, but just released today.)

  1. finally, something new (albeit, from something old) instead of all the sequels and re-sequels, ad nauseum. i’m looking forward to the adaptation. thanks for the heads up, Mr. Bunn 🙂

    1. Are you serious? That’s a total bummer. I haven’t read his blog in a while. Time to head on over for a look. Thanks for the heads-up.
