I just posted a very interesting interview with Doug Carlyle. Click on over and give it a read. It’s refreshing to encounter another writer who made the jump later in his career to writing. Life’s an amazing thing, full of opportunity to head back into the yellow wood and take the road you didn’t try before (apologies to Mr. Frost for mishandling his words). By the way, if anyone can explain the ten gallon conundrum, I’d appreciate that!

Since the question came up in my interview, and I live in Texas and occasionally wear a ‘cowboy’ hat, I am obligated to answer the question regarding the meaning of a ten gallon hat. This link gives that answer.
Now you can sleep better tonight.
Aha. A ten braided hat? Who’d have imagined that was the origin? That’s a pretty interesting explanation. Chalk one more down to the evolution of language. Thanks, Doug.
