The Mike Murphy Files is a collection of humorous stories. Urban fantasy, mostly. Humor is one of my favorite genres. When it’s well done, such as Wodehouse or Richard Powell or Robert Taylor’s Journey to Matecumbe, it’s fantastic. When it’s done poorly, well, it’s flatter and less inspiring than a stale pancake. At any rate, one man’s humor is another man’s blueberry pancake. An odd thing, isn’t it?
For me, the process of writing the stories in The Mike Murphy Files was primarily one of enjoyment. I have trouble making myself smile, but these little characters did the trick.
