Film notes: wading into pre-production

The film outfit I’m part of had a good meeting last night. The story is hammered out satisfactorily. As the writer, my next job is to turn it into a script without any dialogue. I’m guessing that’ll take me about three weeks. It should be relatively painless and quick due to the fact that we’ve already created a detailed and internally consistent plot. More than enough material to work with. No guess-work for me as I write. In the meantime, my counterparts are going to start building the master schedule, check on rates for talent (actors and certain kinds of crew), and do some preliminary location scouting. Once I’m done with the script, we’ll examine the plot again, and then I’ll start working on dialogue.
