My friend Daichi has been tinkering some more with the new Hawk cover. It’s interesting what can be done with changes in light and color. Anyway, here’s the original illustration without text, as well as the same with the text. This first illustration has only a vaguely defined light source.
Here’s the second version without text and with text. This one has a more defined light source in the left hand portion of the sky. It makes for a more vibrant picture, thought it forces the loss of some detail on the front of the buildings due the light source automatically putting them into shadow. The color changes in the sky work well, in my estimation. He also changed the position of the hawk, which seems better in relation to the text placement.
